About The Speaker
Melanie works with ETH transfer, the technology transfer office of ETH Zurich, where she is responsible for internal as well as external marketing activities.
Melanie received her diploma in chemistry at the Gerhard-Mercator University in Duisburg, Germany, and her PhD in physics at the École polytecnique federale de Lausanne, Switzerland. She was a beamline scientist at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland, and then moved to industry.
As the research coordinator of swissnuclear, the association of the Swiss nuclear power station operators, she coordinated research collaborations between the Swiss nuclear power stations and academia. Working at the interface between industry and academia, Melanie worked to understand the interests of both sides and to facilitate the knowledge transfer between academic scientists and industrial engineers.
Melanie obtained a Master of Advanced Studies in Management, Economics and Technology from ETH Zurich complementing her natural sciences background and building up her competences in marketing.
She joined ETH transfer while completing the master’s degree and now serves again at the interface between industry and academia – just from the other side.
